The Moving and Manual Handling People course is to help you establish and understand the risks of moving people. This could be a patient or an elderly resident. The course will teach you the best ways to move people safely.
Poor moving and handling technique accounts for a large number of injury reports within the social care sector and health services each year. Ensuring you have the appropriate training for nurses, carers and anyone else who may be in a position to lift or move people, use best practice and carry out their work with awareness.
The programme will help you to recognise where lifting and moving could be hazardous to someone and instructs you in the correct techniques for lifting and moving people safely. It takes into account who you are lifting, and how you will lift them to ensure you have thought of everything before you lift or move them. The Manual Handling People training ultimately aims to reduce physical stress and the risk of injury when looking after people in your care.
